ANDY GRANT - Business Manager
Joining ASG E-Guard after a 31 year career as a Warfare Officer in the Royal New Zealand Navy, Andy has a very wide range of diverse organisational experience, with an excellent ability to lead complex and disparate operational functions. Andy can draw on a broad range of experiences from many roles; including military security and aviation, and apply them to his role as the Business Manager of ASG E-Guard Ltd.
Culminating his sea-going career as the Captain of the frigate HMNZS TE KAHA, Andy took his ship and team to many parts of the world and received a prestigious Sir Peter Blake Trust Leadership Award in 2007.
Andy now leads the talented ASG E-Guard team, as they look to find innovative solutions to the emerging security problems.

Meet the team
Iain Hook - Business Manager
Iain is an accomplished & experienced senior executive with over 20 years in the ICT sector, across African and ANZ markets. He has extensive product, marketing, strategy and sales background including a history of closing complex deals with key customers. As an implementer with a ‘can do’ attitude, Iain leads our team to carry through to completion. For the last 6 years Iain has been heavily involved in the IoT sector both at a network operators level and also taking end-end solutions to market.
Iain uses his passion for innovation, digital & disruptive technologies to evolve business performances & market offerings. A strategic thinker, Iain develops the big picture through strong analytical problem solving, and an understanding of key market trends and evolving/disruptive technologies.
Iain is a member of the NZ IoT Alliance and sits of the Smart Cities working group within the Alliance.
Outside of work, Iain uses his ‘can-do’ approach for the benefit of the community whereby he is the founder and chairman of Maungakiekie Songbird, a central Auckland community-based project that supports conservation activities in and around Auckland’s One Tree Hill. Iain’s also a keen mountain biker so come the weekends you will find him out and about in various bike parks and trails around Auckland.

Phil Hitchcock - Solutions Architect
Phil is an experienced software developer proficient in C++, PHP, Python and other languages, he has 20 years experience in IT Services including hardware, software, cyber security and cloud.
He recently transferred from our group IT business, IT Engine.
Darren Hunter - Contracts/Projects Manager
Darren has over 15 year’s experience as a Contracts/Projects Manager with a strong portfolio of successfully managed projects.
He is experienced in critical path project management and is experienced in electronic security, information technology and many other technologies.
Darren has proven leadership experience running diverse teams to deliver successful outcomes and has a passion for technology.
Melika Soleimani - Data Engineer
Melika holds a Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, majoring in Information Technology. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Information Systems. In her master thesis, she used Fuzzy ANP as a multi-criteria decision-making method to investigate how BMPS can be implemented successfully.
She is currently pursuing her interest in Artificial Intelligence. In her Ph.D. research, she is investigating the impacts of AI in recruitment. In her previous roles, she has worked as a C++ and Python developer, Scrum master and software tester.
She has joined ASG Technologies as a data scientist and she is looking at possible ways to utilize her skills in technology projects.
James Higgins – Software Developer
James joined ASG Technologies in 2019 with a background in software development. As a software developer he focuses on embedded IoT systems and Microsoft's Azure platform. He is experienced in numerous programming languages including C, C++, Python, PHP and others.
James holds a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from AUT University, majoring in computer science and software development. He is now looking to apply his knowledge and skills towards the future of robotics, drones and IoT devices.
Logan O'Toole - R&D Engineer
Logan joined ASG Technologies in 2018 with a background in embedded systems and UAVs. As an R&D Engineer his focus is in developing and integrating IoT security system solutions. He is passionate about emerging and innovative technologies with skills in integrated circuit design and software development.
Logan holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Technologies and a Bachelor’s Degree with Honours in Electrical and Electronic Engineering specialising in robotics, automation, and embedded systems engineering which he is looking to use to enhance and develop the technology.
Devang Patel - R & D Engineer
Devang joins ASG Technologies with a background in embedded systems. He is our Development Engineer with a focus in developing and integrating UGV and UAV systems. He is passionate about creative technology and has been involved in various projects where he has gained skills in designing integrated circuits, constructing PCBs and software programming.
Devang holds a Bachelor’s Degree with Honours in electrical and electronic Engineering from AUT University specialising in robotics and embedded systems. He is now looking to apply his knowledge and skills towards the technological advancements in robotics.
Jan le Roux – National Business Development & Sales Manager
As our National Business Development & Sales Manager, Jan has great experience in technology solutions having worked for Axis, the global CCTV manufacturuer. He also has deep expereince in IoT and SCADA, and has supported the water & waste, electrical sectors, as well as councils and utilities. Jan is passionate around technology solutions.
Chris Pickering - Project Manager
Chris has 22 years of commercial experience in design and manufacturing businesses within New Zealand and Internationally. He has a passion for technology developments particularly spanning the fields of mechatronics and software design.
He spent 12 years in the Royal New Zealand Air Force and has a current PPL. Chris is involved in the Aviation sector, and is an affiliate of Intl Society of Air Safety Investigators.
Chris holds a Masters Degree in Management from Auckland University, and currently provides project management for ASG Technologies.
Weizhen Ni – R&D Engineer
Weizhen joins ASG technologies with a background in Mechatronics. An R&D Engineer, mainly focusing on robotic systems and embedded IoT solutions as well as sensor technology and mechanical design. He wants to apply his skills and knowledge to developing future technologies for ASG.
Weizhen holds a Bachelor’s degree in Measurement and Control Technology & Instruments and a Master’s degree in Mechanics from AUT University specialising in robotics.
Steven Murdoch - GM Commercial
Steven is the General Manager Commercial for TPT Group, he is a passionate finance executive with a successful track record across different industries. (Retail, FMCG manufacturing, medical/healthcare, supply chain)
He is a commercially focused finance generalist with extensive experience in strategy, FP&A, controlling, business partnering, continuous improvement, M&A’s, IT, cost accounting and project management.
He has a strong expertise in treasury, financial risk management and internal controls.
Steven has a proven track record of coaching, mentoring and developing high performing teams.
He has successfully delivered on a broad range of highly complex strategic initiatives, restructures and organisational projects, delivering short term cost savings and long-term growth opportunities.
Steven also leads Technology Leasing NZ.
Don Roberts– HSEQ Manager
Don is the HSEQ Manager for TPT Group.
He has a strong background in Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Management Systems and has held senior Health & Safety Management positions working for major multi-national companies in the UK, Europe, Middle East, and New Zealand.
Don started off his career as an engineering apprentice and has a diploma in Mechanical and Production Engineering. He has been a professional auditor for many years and holds professional audit qualifications, having spent many years as Certification Manager with one of the world’s leading certification bodies.
As a professional auditor he has been exposed to a diverse range of industry sectors and cultures in many different countries over the years, which he believes has given him a unique ability to view the world from many different angles and enjoys collaborating with people from all walks of life.
He has a real passion for Health, Safety and Sustainability practices and has always challenged himself to set and maintain high personal standards throughout his career.
Don is a self-confessed petrol head and rugby nut and spends most of his spare time either with a spanner in his hand or on the touch line at his local rugby club.
Rebecca Kurta - Marketing & Brand Lead
Rebecca is the Group Brand and Marketing Lead for TPT Group, and manages all marketing and comms planning, content, strategies, and activities.
Rebecca joined TPT Group in 2020 with over a decade of experience in marketing, events, design and communications roles, and a strong sales background. She has a Bachelor of Communications majoring in Events Management, and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Marketing.
Having carved out a niche working with businesses in tech, Rebecca enjoys the challenge and people-centred aspects of creating strong insightful brand stories that deliver results and create positive change.
In her day-to-day role, she collaborates with nearly every department across the Group to share who we are and uncover opportunities to lead the business forward with a cohesive marketing approach.
Outside of work, Rebecca describes herself as a mama and wife, a crafter, writer, photographer, music listener, sustainability-warrior, brunch-er, and lazy day adventurer.
